Disposing of so many daughters in marriage with little more than their good looks and charms to recommend them, is a distinction only Mrs. Bennet can claim, which she does, frequently.
Many in Meryton thought such a feat impossible, and consider the Bennets to have been very fortunate indeed when news from Mrs. Darcy, or Mrs. Bingley, or Mrs. Ashworth is generously circulated throughout the village. Their felicity in marriage is assured.
Fortunately for those in Meryton and beyond, little has been heard from Mrs. Wickham these four years since, but that silence is generally considered to be good news. Infrequent letters describing her adventures in London or Brighton assure her family of her good health; that her husband is never mentioned is barely remarked upon.
