Dr. Heidi Dietrich comes from a strong line of Germanic determination, attitude and skills that are so necessary to trek the dangerous fields of archaeology. Ducking bandits, rogue military, corrupt officials and several battles a day, just to find a precious artifact in the Mesopotamia region of Turkey... where they hate women in any position of power. In fact, probably any occupation in that mid-nineties era. In that region, opinion has it that the best use for a woman is the fees they can derive from the sales, all the way to Central Africa. It is that kind of world.
But she is of stern stuff, quite able to take care of herself, and with the right help in soldiers and a new, very capable man in her life, she can come up a winner!
