The fascinating, true account of the quest for one of the Old Testament’s most infamous cities.

Like many modern-day Christians, Dr. Steven Collins struggled with what seemed to be a clash between his belief in the Bible and the research regarding ancient history—a crisis of faith that inspired him to put both his education and the Bible to the test by embarking on an expedition that has led to one of the most exciting finds in recent archaeology. Recounting Dr. Collins’s quest for Sodom in absorbing detail, this adventure-cum-memoir reflects the tensions that define Biblical archaeology as it narrates a tale of discovery. The book follows Dr. Collins as he tracks down Biblical, archaeological, and geological clues to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, narrowing down the list of possible sites as he weighs evidence and battles skeptics. Finally, he arrives at a single location that looms as the only option: a massive site called Tall el-Hammam in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Challenging the assumptions of academics around the world, Discovering the City of Sodom may well inspire a revision of the history books. Dr. Collins has become a new voice in the controversy over using the Bible as a credible source of understanding the past—and opened a new chapter in the struggle over the soul of Biblical archaeology.

an intriguing story that weaves the facts of history with the knowledge of now, using biblical texts as a validation template.

I found this book to be highly conclusive and open about the criticisms, touching on about every corner one could muster from the angles of this conversation being talked about, the different opinions, and yet respecting of other beliefs and opposing views and professionals in the field of archeology, theology, and alternative interlocked professions and expertise.

Archaeological findings & research of the abomination historically depicted in the Bible of the kingdom of Sodom.

Brings a bit of history, mystery, and awe to a biblical tale that is turned into an actual account.

I came across this from something I was watching on YouTube. I’m very glad I did! I NEVER listen to books like this but it fired my imagination and I was suddenly in Sodom when God judged them. It brought the history to life for me in my mind. Thank you for your work and this book!
Awesome is the God we serve!!

Fantastic!

Before I get an actual text itself, I’d like to address that the performer needs a new microphone or training and how to remove his harsh S sound! Or perhaps he needs a new sound engineer.
For this reason alone, I gave him only three stars. Which is really sad felt like I was being talked to by a snake. However, how he tells the story and the amazing nature of the story itself maybe keep listening.

The discovery of Sodom is told from the perspective of the archaeologist and his search. The writer makes sure you understand how archaeologist think about what they’re looking for and looking at. My family has three nuclear engineers, one who worked at Los Alamos national laboratories. That made this search ultimately more fascinating in the investigative realm.

This is a must read for scientists, would be archaeologists, anyone interested in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah! Amazingly well written! Well done.

Amazingly well written! Not Dry!
