In this second book of the Camillus series Marcus is pitted against enemies old and new. Publius Postumius is the hero of the hour, sacking the city of Bolae with its incredible treasures. Sent with a relief force to support his old enemy Marcus falls foul of an assassination attempt before his credibility is tested by the scheming of his old commander and he must choose between friendship and duty. Back in Rome tensions are rising as Postumius’s schemes grow and his soldiers rage against their former Tribune as the plebeians and patricians come to bloody conflict. Marcus is given his first command and must fight for glory as his loyalties are tested by the actions of his friends and his enemies. As Marcus strives to grow his political and military career the greatest challenge to Rome starts to weave its influence over the Latin Delta and the City of Veii becomes Rome’s latest target for conquest. In this action-packed adventure join Marcus as he starts his military and political career which will lead him to become Dictator of Rome and achieve his destiny. 91, 000 words Acción y Aventura Ficción Histórica Roma

I think that these books (I’m listening to the entire series) are really well written. I got emotional about some of the deaths. Also happy that P finally got what he deserved. I also like that they concern an earlier hero of Roman history. Did Camillus and his friends really introduce the scorpion? I am amazed at how much computer narration has improved — but I think this author deserves a human narrator to make his stories have the momentum which exists in the writing. Is the guy from SJA Turney’s Fronto series available? He would rock these books.
