Evil awakens. A hero rises. The quest to save humanity begins.

Becca Moore has always felt like the outcast, a misfit adrift in a world that doesn’t quite understand her. But when she learns she’s one of the Chosen, fated to mend the fraying barrier between our reality and a realm teeming with demonic forces, her life is thrust into chaos. As malevolent powers stir, monstrous creatures shatter the tranquility of her once ordinary existence, forcing Becca to confront a fate she never imagined.

In the mountains of western Maryland, the Strickland family struggles to overcome their own brushes with death as shadows loom over the World of Light. Retired Army veteran Pete Strickland is a resilient truck driver, battling the harsh realities of his new life when the encroaching darkness threatens his family. His daughter, Janie, embodies fierce determination despite the odds, igniting hope when all seems lost. Meanwhile, Pete’s son, Chris, must push the limits of bravery, risking everything to defend those he loves.

United by fate, Becca and the Stricklands join forces to resist the approaching tide of evil. With danger lurking around every turn, Becca must harness her newfound abilities and summon the courage to face her deepest fears. Will they stand together against the rising threat, or will evil shatter their bonds and consume everything they hold dear?

Dial-Up Doom!, Part One by Brian Parker is a thrilling ride that blends 90s nostalgia with dark fantasy in a way that hooked me right from the start. Andrew B. Wehrlen’s narration brings Becca Moore and the Stricklands to life, capturing both the tension and heart of their fight against encroaching evil. With its mix of misfits, monsters, and the rise of a reluctant hero, this is a fantastic start to a series I can’t wait to continue.

A darkly funny and surprisingly heartfelt fantasy!

This was probably my favorite listen of the past two years. I didn't want it to end and hope the next book comes soon!

Loved it

This book wasn't what I expected, if you like thrillers and adventure this may be a book for you. What if you were the last hope of humanity and all of the evil things wanted to kill you before you could bring The Ring to be destroyed? It's a pretty quick read and is setting up the reader to go on an adventure to see if humanity can be saved or if all hope is lost. It does jump around between characters a lot at the beginning and since I was listening to this I didn't initially realize how they were connected, but keep listening I get the feeling they will all matter as the story progresses. I received this audio book free and enjoy leaving reviews for new authors.
Happy Listening,

I have read a few of Brian Parker’s books. He has numerous excellent Zombie books (some of the best storylines in the 5 roads to Texas series) and the Sci-Fi noir Easytown books are really good.

So this is the first time I’ve ready anything “fantasy” with swords elves and imps by Brian and it did not disappoint. While this is “part one” and there’s still a lot of story to go, I enjoyed the cast of characters and their development through the story (including one who bugged the hell out of me, I think this was due to me projecting my own trauma onto that character). I’m very excited to see where this story goes and I am looking forward to part 2.
I’ll be honest in that I’m still on the fence with the “Retro” setting for the story. While it’s fun having some call backs to the early 90’s, I don’t think it’s essential to the story to be set then. Then again maybe it will play a bigger part as the story continues.

Now for the audio!
This was the first book I’ve listened to narrated by Andrew B. Wehrlen, and I really do think he did a cracking job. The whole production of the audio book was top notch and a pleasure to listen to.

So more than happy to have spent some money to buy this audio book (I also bought the Kindle as well). And I’m excited to see what happens now the Void has been fully breached!

Something a bit different from this author!
