The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books began in 1996 with a simple goal: to bring together the people who create books with the people who love to read them. The festival was an immediate success and has become the largest and most prestigious book festival in the country, attracting more than 130,000 book lovers each year.

Bob Morris is a frequent contributor to the New York Times, the New Yorker and NPR. Morris' new memoir Assisted Loving is a 2008 American Library Assn. Honor Book. He recently collaborated with actress Diahann Carroll on her memoir and is currently writing a comedy pilot for HBO.

Diahann Carroll is a singer; stage and screen actress; Tony and Golden Globe Award winner; and Emmy, Oscar, and Grammy nominee. Her pioneering career has inspired many. Carroll most recently appeared on Grey's Anatomy and in a touring cabaret show. Her new memoir isThe Legs are the Last to Go.
