Timely Historical Context

In an era of GameStop, Bitcoin, Tesla and Elon Musk this is a great historical reminder on the many speculative crazes in human history. Tulips, dot coms, and the Radio Corporation of America are a reminder and a warning that valuations untethered from fundamentals eventually collapse. In today’s terms, an almost bankrupt company selling at $25 billion in market share. A company barely squeezing out profits valued nearly a trillion dollars and more than several of the largest players in its market combined. Or a new currency which is expensive to transact or hardly understood being bought and sold like a hot commodity. Speculation hasn’t gone anywhere.
