Dr. Cristina LePort is a multi-faceted professional whose journey from a vibrant childhood in Bologna, Italy, to becoming a celebrated cardiologist and author in Southern California encapsulates a lifetime of determination and creative prowess. A graduate summa cum laude from the University of Bologna School of Medicine, she completed her residency in Internal Medicine in Brooklyn, NY, before specialized cardiovascular research and a fellowship at UCLA.

Political fiction book

I enjoy a medical mystery, including those with a bit of sci-fi, but it became quickly apparent this is a vehicle for the author to present her views on what she sees as the dangers of socialized medicine. My dad was a doctor and also feared socialized medicine. There are definite downsides and risks. Having worked on healthcare and globally, I believe there are pros and cons to both extremes. Regardless, I didn't buy this book to hear political views, I bought it purely for escapism. Thus, I didn't finish it and wish it would have been more clear in the title details. As far as the story goes, it was interesting and could have been a fun listen had I not found the preachiness distracting. If that type of thing doesn't bother you, it might be worth a listen. Good narration performance.
