Death's Mask

A devious serial killer is stalking the Seattle suburbs, using a knife to puncture the hearts of his victims. In addition to the precision of the murders, no forensic evidence is ever left behind. The killer is like a ghost, but the bodies he leaves behind are only too real. Detective Reggie Flannigan, with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Washington State Patrol is assigned to the case, but despite making steady progress, the murders continue, and he is no closer to catching the killer than when he had started. Until Nick Parker, his old partner, shows up. Not only had Parker previously been a cop, he was also a former black-ops asset for the government, which is a polite way of saying assassin. Since Parker was trained to think like a killer, the hunter is now the hunted, and the two men are destined to meet. Only one of them will live to talk about it.
