good listen, funny, scary, and if it doesn't make you want to visit Africa for s safari, even s photo one nothing will.

Absolute favorite!

This book has been a favorite since I read it 25 years ago. Super excited it’s now on audible! Can’t say that the narrator was necessarily the best choice but it was a solid performance. Just doesn’t convey the grit these stories originally held around the fire… Capstick has an entire collection based around the dark continent that needs to be narrated!

I read all of Capstick's books from the library 30 years ago. I have been able to buy them over the years since.
Today this book showed up on my Audible recomendations. I've been waiting for this for the 12 years I've been listening to Audible books.
I bought both books immediately.

The best African hunting author in my opinion

The colorful fanciful writing mixed with the bloody reality of Africa. The old fashioned use of the names of places like Rhodesia are a welcome break from the modern fear off language.

Great stories

Hilarious, hair raising, and eye opening. A series of great stories about the dangers of big game/dangerous game hunting in Africa organized by animal. It’s great fun and told with a laugh by the narrator. Enjoy.

One of my favorites!

I love Peter Hathaway Castillo and his writings. He was a true example of a hunter and conservationist! A must read for any outdoor enthusiasts!
