Resumen del Editor

Ishmael Jones is faced with a dead body and a missing mummy in this highly entertaining, genre-blending mystery.

“Death shall come on swift wings to whoever desecrates this tomb....”

Ishmael Jones and his partner Penny have been summoned to remote Cardavan House, home of the world’s largest private collection of Ancient Egyptian artefacts, for the unveiling of George Cardavan’s latest acquisition: a bona fide Egyptian mummy.

When a bloodstained body is discovered beside the empty sarcophagus, Ishmael is dismissive of the theory that the mummy’s curse is to blame. Instead, he sets out to uncover the human killer responsible. But how can Ishmael explain the strange, shuffling footsteps that creep along the corridors? Who is playing games with them...and why?

I love this series

Author Simon R Green is a master story weaver of mystery and wit and I cannot imagine who would be able to deliver the story with such precision other than Mr. GildartJackson. I await another in the series

not my thing

like a 50s mummy movie.. just not interesting cause there's no human motivations.. everyone is a caricature..

Good story, great narration!

I have really struggled to find a book I could get into. i enjoy the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher, and this book was similar in ways. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

Love this narrator

This is the fourth book in the Ishmael Jones series of mysteries. I just listened to the fifth book yesterday. The plots of these two books were almost identical. Nevertheless, I like these stories, primarily because the main characters are quite appealing, albeit quirky.

The books are narrated by one of my favorite narrators, Gildart Jackson, which is why I tried them in the first place. They were available to Audible subscribers at no cost via the Plus Catalog.

This book is really good...

Although I wouldn't want to live in a museum of Egyptian artifacts. Oh my, there are some great lines in this book and Penny comes to life! There are twists that will have you trying to figure out what is really going on. And you see a glimpse of the new Colonel's human side.
Beware gem seekers - they could be cursed...

Another chilling and intriguing British mystery

The mysterious Ishmael Jones and partner Penny lead us on an adventure to an isolated castle for an examination of ancient Egyptian artifacts. During their visit, many eerie incidents begin happening. Author Simon R. Green pens a perfectly suspenseful plot, and is paired perfectly with the phenomenal pitch-perfect vocal tones of Gildart Jackson. I found two books in this series in the Audible Plus catalogue {{{free}}}. Worth the $12+. I save my credits for more expensive books; worth a credit as well. Highly recommended!

well written despite stock set up

the 2nd in the series I've listened to. I stalled out on the 1st multiple times. there is a competence and strength to the writing which engages despite the similar set up of isolated manor house owned by quirky upper class Brits. A death leads to more and questions of reasons. outside security delayed. Characters making bone headed choices. Ishmael exhibiting strength but not much self-knowledge. The ball of info moves down the playing field though. perhaps in the next book more of his past will come to life. Listened to this one after finishing the previous title. Going to take a break though. will return!

This book is better with Gildart Jackson

What a great story. So much mystery and unexpected diversion.
I put my confidence in Gildart Jackson and will often purchase a book he has narrated without doing much investigation. This series is fabulous and the characters are so well narrated it is in my opinion a master piece. I’ll be purchasing more of this series.
