From the New York Times bestselling author of The Notebook, a soldier must face an impossible choice when a national tragedy threatens his relationship with the girl of his dreams. Now a motion picture starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried.

Rebellious John drops out of school and enlists in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life–until he meets Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who captured his heart.

But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. While he’s away, Savannah falls in love with someone else. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love–and face the hardest decision of his life.©2006 Nicholas Sparks. It seems that Nicholas Sparks gets the best narrators for his books. Holter Graham made this story a little better than it really was. I like the characters and especially the relationship between John and his father who had a type of Autisum. This was such a sweet part of the book and it brought me to tears a lot of the time.
I wasn't crazy about the ending. I would have written it a little different but I still give it 5 stars. This wasn't as good as The Notebook or The Last Ride, but it is a good one.

Story and especially the Narrator was great

There isn`t much to say about this book, it`s a love story between two star-crossed lovers, but that is you average Nicholas Sparks. I would suggest watching the movie with your SO. You`ll take more out of it.

An enjoyable book as one drives to work. Did not want it to end.

Not my favorite of Sparks books. The ending was sad and disappointing. I kept expecting the two main characters to get together.

Good story
