Resumen del Editor

No phones. No computers. No Internet. Nothing.

The thin thread holding the civilized world together has been severed. Millions of citizens have been thrust into the unknown. As society falls into decay, John charges headlong into the escalating chaos to protect the only thing he holds dear: his family.

Surviving The Collapse

Captain Kate Holloway moved her family to New York to start over, and break the barriers that her work had created. But when an EMP brings New York to its knees, Kate must fight to survive amid the terror descending upon the city and rescue her family.

Dark times indeed!

Book 1
Seeking Shelter? (Per the narrator, title wasn’t listed in the index, weirdly.)

This was an okay read, I liked how it started out seemingly normal and then showed the moment the world as we know it ended. It did have quite a long battle / defending the homefront scene, if that’s your jam, you should read this one!

Book 2:
Surviving the Collapse, Book 1
Sort of slow-paced, not as fun as other Wise EMP books I’ve read, but okay.

*Weird sound quality for the audio, which was extra noticeable after the previous read sounded better.

Book 3:
Surviving the Collapse, Book 2 “by James Hunt” (I already suspected Hunt and Wise were the same person based on writing styles … this accelerates that suspicion.)

There’s a lot more action in this one, it’s suspense-y and the level of fun I expect from Wise. Better than the other two except: Continuity issue. The reader is told that Rodney’s cabin has “enough food and supplies to last them for a long time.” “Them” being the group he’s traveling with. However, the previous book stated he had enough food for ONE PERSON, and for a limited amount of time. It was a year or less.
I find continuity issues annoying, I shouldn’t know what a book says better than its writer. Overall though, it was a pretty fun read.

The narrator was awful. Dennis, a major character, has changing accents throughout, terrible continuity.

Book 4:
Into the Dark, written by Robert Walker

This one was okay … slow start… slow middle. A bit of excitement … a battle scene that was very underwhelming … and then an abrupt ending.

Overall: 3 stars, all authors seemed to take some shortcuts.

Should have been two books

Great way to stray from the usual nuclear post apocalyptic storyline. The POV bounce around was unnecessary though. This was a two book series reaching for credits
