The night illegal bar owner, Honey Brinn, woke up after going into labor, she found her husband, Lorenzo, dead at their kitchen table. Although cleared of any wrongdoing by the authorities, the Press had not been so kind or understanding.

Emanuel Caruso, newspaper journalist, has waited years for an opportunity to prove herself to her editor after being stuck writing fluff pieces for the paper, and catering to the domestic needs of her coworkers. But when all her male colleagues fail to get close to the illustrious owner of the speakeasy, she's offered a chance to verify Honey was indeed responsible for her own husband's death.

When a rare barmaid position suddenly becomes available at the speakeasy, Emanuel applies for the job in order to befriend the owner and hopefully uncover her deadly secrets.

But Honey Brinn isn't easily deceived, and soon she and Emanuel become engaged in a lethal game of cat and mouse as one attempts to expose the deadly secrets of the other.
