Have you ever had your life suddenly become a trainwreck? Maybe from a sudden death, a divorce, a turnaround in financial fortunes, a job loss, a bad diagnosis, or any other multitude of things that can happen, which can take a person by surprise, leaving them feeling devastated and broken. I would like to suggest that this book of the Bible was written for just such times. Right now, it seems that our world is turned upside-down. Many people are experiencing a loss of the familiar and face the uncertainty of what is to come. Historically, Daniel lived during the time when Jeremiah prophesied to Judah of the coming Babylonian incursion. He was transported to Babylon where he served Nebuchadnezzar and his lineage, until the Persian leader. There was not going to be a quick fix or escape from this new normal. It was here to stay. How then does one cope, when where you are, is not where you want to be? What do you do to survive in what is foreign? How do you deal with the unknown? Most importantly, where is God in all of this when life is turned upside-down? That was the flipped-over world that Daniel and the people of Judah were in. It may mirror your own world right now. What we are going to learn here, might be the game plan you were looking for to navigate your own new normal. That is what I intend to dig out from this study. How did Daniel do it and what can I learn from his experience?
