great history of Boone and Kentucky

I enjoyed the book very much. good for history buffs and Boone ancestors. I like the early life with the Quakers and the revolution.

Great Book!

The best book on Daniel Boone that I’ve read. The facts have been researched and presented eloquently and the narrator is excellent.
The book covers Daniel’s life from boyhood to death and then goes on to address other views of his life and legend. Highly recommended!

A GOOD MAN

I grew up with Fess Parker reprising his Crockett role with a name change. DB was a very good frontier man, hunter and explorer. He was not the great hero the press pushed him into. This is a good bio and gives an interesting insight into life in the 1800's

Found out I knew nothing about Daniel Boone

Listening to this book I realized I didn’t really know a thing about Daniel Boone, a name I’ve heard all my life like almost every US Citizen. How many of us really know who he was or what he did in his lifetime?

Boone sounds like he really enjoyed being mostly alone in the wilderness, out hunting for long stretches of time. He loved his wife and children so I have to wonder why he was gone just as much as he was? His wife certainly was a very forgiving or understanding wife to be on her own with all the children they had out In territory that had yet to really be safe. They lost at least one if not more children to Indian raids.

Parts of the books certainly seemed a bit boring but I just kept listening. On the whole, it was a good history lesson. It isn’t a book just for anyone as it is more of a historical book. This is the reason I rated it 4 stars. The reader was okay, did get on my nerves just a bit so also a 4. If you know nothing about the Boone family, this has a lot of interesting information.

good, learned a good bit

not bad for a historical audio book. Not the world's biggest page turner. but enjoyable and not a snoozer. I was driving back to Raleigh from Louisville, and stopping in the Cumberland Gap, so I put this on. really cool part of American history that is not emphasized much anymore, so I enjoyed learning some new things.

Very engaging.

I really liked the close up historical detail. I found all of this book to be quite interesting. My imagination was very much engaged with the close up view of the hardships of everyday life on the frontier, the kind of things the women had to go through, the almost constant childbirth, and the ongoing absolute terror of the Indian threat they and their men had to contend with over and over again. The reading was spot on, though I had to slow it down quite a bit to make sure I caught everything.

A fitting tribute to a great man.

This book is well written, researched, and performed. I grew up watching Daniel Boone on television. This book brought the true man to life and I found his life and exploits exciting and enjoyable. This book helps one to understand the rich history of our country.

Seemed like a balanced fair portrayal of a man that contributed much while negotiating the trials of living in 3 worlds at once. I would like to have known him.
