Starting strong, ending as a pushover

Pushover is the only word that comes to mind when thinking about this story. When I started reading this book I was excited about the heroine. She displayed a good mix of bravery, strength and femininity without being to overbearing or whiny. She was strong when the situation warranted such actions but still remain feminine and likeable. That is until the middle of the story. I’m not going to reveal the story but I am going to say she took a huge turn for the worse. She went from being a brave female facing a unknown world and future to a pathetic pushover that was easily conquered with sex. She allowed him to manipulate her, very easily I might add, into doing everything he wanted from her. Although he never truly called her his sex slave, he treated her as such and she allowed it. Taio is unbelievable and not in the OMG, he is a sex god meaning. He wants his cake and eat it too. He wants Eva for himself but refuses to even consider her as his possibly future mate. I just don’t believe his transformation in the end.

Warning, this book contains some f/f scenes that are extremely detailed. If that is something that you don’t like then don’t listen to this book. The actually scenes didn’t bother me; it’s the manner in which they were written that were annoying to me. Would I recommend this book, I’m on the fence about it. Like I said, the story starts off great; it’s about mid way through that I wanted to stop listening, groan and wondering about the sanity of the heroine.

Nice alien romance!

Awesome story... Great alien romance...

The book starts 3 yrs earlier...as earth is being attacked by aliens. Jump forward to present as Eva (h) is up next on the auction block to be sold to other aliens. After Eva fight off two bad guys, she is literally given to Taio (H), who is a prince and king of a humanoid alien race.

The story really picks up after Eva and Taio come together, although Eva believes she is Taio's slave, he never really treats her as such.

Great story... with a lot of smexing going on.. This is erotica... not just romance... There is also a f/f scene...which was not all that bad... but eh... it made sense to the story...

I really liked Eva as a character...very strong heroine... and not scared of all the aliens she came across..

Narration was good

I like the narrator but I wish she would’ve changed her voice a little more when doing the males voices. The story is good and I enjoyed hearing it again. I read it before as an ebook but wanted to see what new life the narrator could breathe into it. She did well.

This was a good Steamy and Sexy Alien romance story. Earth has been conquered by aliens and the humans have either been killed or sold as slaves in other galaxies... This story was about Eva and she was one heck of a kick butt heroine. The other captives looked to her to lead them and she fought for them as well as herself. She is eventually rescued from slavery by accident.

I really liked this story however there was a couple of F/F scenes in it that are just not my thing. The first F/F scene just seemed really abrupt in the story line. I was a little better prepared for the second encounter and while I believe the author did a good job writing these scenes as well as the entire story the F/F scenes just are not my thing.

I felt the story was a little rushed at the ending. I would of liked it if Eva didn't forgive Taio so fast. Now i am wondering what could possibly be in store for humans. It also looks like Eva will possibly have an ongoing story to find her friend that was separated from her when King Taio took her to his home...

Eva’s sci-if romance...

I have to be honest that I didn’t enjoy this story as much as the others in the series for one reason- there seemed to be a lot of F/F sexual content that I don’t enjoy. If not for that I would have given the story a higher rating, because the bones of the story were really pretty good. Kits a personal preference of mine, I suppose. This is actually the first book in the series and I have been listening to them out of order, lol. Narration was well done.

So-so tale with character consistency problems

I'm not much of a sci-fi person but lately I've been listening to some alien romances and this one always popped up as a recommendation. It's not bad, it's just... not good.

The story had so much potential... but then it fell into melodrama and had a hard time digging itself out. Also, the author seems to favor inserting sex scenes for the heck of it, that go against the established characterization. I can't really reveal any of these without giving away spoilers, but some of the choices made by characters were odd - doing one thing then to help the HEA, changing opinions. It was like we were set up for a surprise but the shifts were just to odd to be realistic, even for aliens.

Made me cring twice

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I'm so disappointed with book. It was so close to being a 5 star wonder. The 2 scenes involving 2 woman were so out of character for the heroine they made me cring. I felt like the author decided she wanted 2 f/f scenes so she shoved them in. I want to make it clear. I like a good f/f story! i have read several that I rated well. This whole book was about the heroine being a warrior. Both situations that involved another woman were not what a strong woman would do. The real sad thing is you could remove both scenes and it would be a 5 star book for me. The story would never miss them.

What about Simone Lewis’s performance did you like?
