Bill Reynolds' first driving experience was in a Model T Ford ice-cream van on the beaches of Jersey at the age of seven.The outbreak of war saw him steering between the bomb craters of London during the Blitz. Then, as part of the European liberating forces, he drove three-ton ammunition trucks into the heart of battles from Normandy to Nijmegen. He drove through the Falaise Gap and the Battle of the Bulge, and into the bombed-out ruins of Nazi Germany. But the closest he came to death was when he became a racing driver. This is the story of one man's obsession with speed and danger on four wheels - and the love that saved him from risking it all once too often.
