The book is written through the eyes of a 10-year-old girl after she finds out the factory has shut down and her father has no job.
The story chronologically sets out what the family did to survive on less money like shopping in charity shops and going to food banks as well as getting pellets for wood for winter.
Also the family started the garden and started selling their excess stuff that they didn't need on the internet. They didn't want to do a garage sale because everything was sold too cheap and they wouldn't make any money.
