When three strange alien ships appear above New York City and monsters from nightmares flood the planet, Gage is quite literally one of the last people to know.

He’s stuck in a prison infirmary with an attractive, though aloof, nurse, and their only connection to the outside world is a TV giving increasingly conflicting reports of what’s going on in the world at large. Given a mysterious stone by his dying cellmate, he starts… changing. Healing faster than he should be able to, surviving things no human should be capable of surviving. And then he discovers his other power, nearly getting him, the nurse, and her distractingly attractive roommate all killed. Now he has to defend the two women from the monstrous alien hordes and all the other dangers this new world has to offer, all the while trying to figure out what the hell is going on, and what exactly it is that he’s turning into.

if I have to hear 'act, don't react' again I'm gonna scream!

A ninja suit....really? I'm pretty sure the author was literally just conjuring the words out of thin air as he was 'writing' this book.
