She already lost her mom, now her father is missing . . .
Maddie Jones’ dad has been kidnapped. The only way to save him is to uncover the mysteries behind the ancient terracotta warriors of China. But the mysteries reveal a 2,000-year-old curse and a plan to unleash the soul of a malicious emperor. What’s a teenage girl to do? How about enlist the help of her seriously annoying brothers and stow away in a crate of mummies . . . then begin a very dangerous quest.
An ancient evil is awakening. Terracotta warriors are coming to life. And worst of all for Maddie, she’ll have to recruit one if her plan is going to succeed. Maddie and her brothers will do anything to find and save their dad . . . even if they have to fight a mummy who has been plotting revenge for thousands of years.
Some tombs shouldn’t be opened.
Maddie Jones is an edgy Nancy Drew meets the Goonies with a voice like Percy Jackson.

Captivating Adventure and Enriching Storytelling
I recently had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook "Curse of the Terracotta Warriors: A Maddie Jones Mystery, Book 1,” by Mark Douglas Jr. I am thrilled to discover a delightful new series to look forward to! From start to finish, this audiobook effortlessly held my attention, offering an enriching journey through an intriguing tale.
Sophie Theiss does a wonderful job embodying the character of teenage Maddie, infusing her portrayal with the authentic attitude and spirit of a teenager. Her narration brings Maddie to life and enhances the overall listening experience.
The plot of "Curse of the Terracotta Warriors" is an enjoyable adventure. The well-crafted storyline and authentic portrayal of the kids make it a standout. The blend of adventure and mystery reminds me of classic Indiana Jones / National Treasure adventures, seen through the lens of a teenage perspective. The historical connections are both fascinating and educational, prompting readers of all ages to explore further. (I know it made me want to learn more!) The author's storytelling prowess is evident, leaving me eagerly anticipating more from this series!
The audiobook's production quality is great. The listening experience is full without being distracting. It's clear that a lot of care went into ensuring a seamless and enjoyable production.
"Curse of the Terracotta Warriors" surpassed my expectations, providing an engaging and immersive experience reminiscent of some of the best adventures in literature and film. I found myself secretly wishing for traffic jams on my commute just to enjoy a few more chapters!
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend "Curse of the Terracotta Warriors: A Maddie Jones Mystery, Book 1" to those seeking a well-narrated and compelling story. My sincere appreciation to the author and the narrator for crafting such a memorable experience. I eagerly anticipate more works from this talented team!
