Cracker

No one living today really knows what life was like in the Depression because most didn't survive it. Those that did either fought in WWII or scraped by with nearly nothing out West. Either way, times were tough for everyone, especially children. Those children eventually grew up and struggled in their own way throughout America in parts that would never recover from the hardships of the first half of the twentieth century. Many of these young men ended up in the Korean War with little choice but to join the military as a means of survival, i.e., food, shelter, and clothing. Eventually, all wars end, but the scars remain in men; in Cracker's case, his dirty secret lasted a lifetime but wreaked havoc on all he met!
