Can a yellow throat toucan, and lyrics from Bruce Springsteen songs, help Joy solve the murder of a prominent philanthropist?

Turmoil comes to Uncertain, Florida in several ways. First, Joy’s roommate, Whitney falls from a ladder during a design job and breaks her ankle. No problem. Joy simply goes along and does the heavy lifting.

The second bit of trouble is the most…well, troubling. Joy’s parents arrive unexpectedly, each with a goal. Robert wants his daughter back in Maryland to take over the family business. And all Jillian’s friends are boasting about new grandchildren, and she’s not about to be left out. The quickest means to that end is to get Joy back with, and married to, her ex, Barry.

Meanwhile, one of Whitney’s clients is murdered. The last person seen with the woman was Joy’s mother, who’s immediately arrested. Normally the local constabulary doesn’t act so rashly. But Chief Wagner has been assigned to another case, and his replacement seems anxious to earn brownie points with the higher-ups.

The recent fiasco where the spirit of Merrick Moore ‘landed’ in Diablo’s body needs to be addressed. Can Monk Rabten’s latest ceremony make that happen?
