Correspondences Between Mircea Eliade’s Scientific Concepts and Fantastic Stories

This study set out to explore the conceptual unity between Mircea Eliade’s scholarly writings and his fantastic prose, responding to Eliade’s own insistence that his literary creations be considered alongside his academic work. By analyzing both registers—scientific and fictional—the research has revealed a coherent philosophical and hermeneutic structure that underlies Eliade’s entire oeuvre.

Three major contributions have emerged:
1. The Tripartite Structure of Consciousness
2. A New Classification of Eliade’s Fantastic Prose
3. The Equality of Religious Facts

This volume represents the first complete English translation of the book originally published in Romanian by Eikon Publishing House in 2015, under the title Mircea Eliade. At the Edge of the Labyrinth: Correspondences between the Scholarly Work and the Fantastic Prose (Mircea Eliade. La marginea labirintului: corespondente între opera științifică și proza fantastică).
