I feel hopeful by a radical acceptance of my life as it is
making the best of my life as it is now
A short collection of poems about Christmas time.
Christmas is supposed to be magical, a fun time of year. Christmas has never been about Christianity or religion for me. It was always a time of abuse and fear, a time when family was forced to be in close proximity.
A fear and dread that I did not have my life together, as society forces us to assume is the way it should be.
That Christmas time is a time of family, tradition and forgiveness.
I say fuck that.
No thank you.
Finally allowing Christmas to just be what it is, whatever I want it to be. No longer following any societal norms that put my mental health at risk for the comfort of others.
I’m no longer doing my best impression of Gatsby,
Never again making myself into the biggest spectacle in order to shine the light,
So you can follow it home to me
