Resumen del Editor

In Contemporary Short Stories, you'll find controversies and moral dilemmas. All of them evolve around themes you may be familiar with in your own life. In a fictional setting, these issues come to light to help you think and enjoy the entertainment value of it at the same time.

Such issues include:

  • Rebellion, pop culture, being different, and dealing with special gifts
  • Loneliness, being an orphan, and being rejected
  • Becoming extremely wealthy, famous, or talented.
  • Sexual themes related to the law of attraction and the importance of it in someone's life
  • Trauma, repressing memories, cognitive distancing, and other similar themes
  • Dealing with the death of a loved one and depression
  • Entrepreneurship, autistic spectrum disorders, and the use of both
  • And many other themes...

The stories will help you ponder the significance of questions you may ask yourself every day. All of these stories are integrated into a lighthearted setting in each of them.

I'm gonna add my view

The stories were written by someone who clearly had a plan for each one. I did notice the occasional, sporadic, spontaneous addition, but the stories had a clear ending since the beginning, or so it seemed.

As to the humor of the stories, I was delightfully impressed. I know this sounds like a mouthful, but it was suddenly, unexpected, and sometimes predictable. A nice, creative combination.

The stories were in a random order, and I think it was intentionally done that way, not proving some point to lead up to the main conclusion, although I enjoyed the last one the most.

Thank you for allowing me to listen to this book.

I loved these stories!

Yes, here is me being positive about something. Take that, mom and dad! (Just kidding).

Okay, so I don't write a lot of reviews. Practically I suck at it. So don't take my word for anything. Why do people trust someone else's opinion anyway? But here it is if you want my opinion and you think it counts for something:

This book contains 4 or 5 stories (I think 4.... see how bad my memory is?)

One of them, for example, was about a man trying to find happiness. He searches for everything, but everything is a letdown (is that a real word?). So he wishes for something else every time. The moral of the story: What we think we want and what makes us happy, are 2 very different things.

Another is about a girl who has some self-esteem issues (think of me), and I won't spoil the rest, but the last chapter is pretty surprising.

Anyway, I don't feel like expanding on the other two. They're fun and they're well thought out. If you don't think so, that's okay too. I mean, from all of them, there must be at least one of them you'll like, right? That's why I like anthologies.
