In Tom's time, Edenics battle the Non-Edenics in a galaxy many light-years from Earth. The Non-Edenics are the result of desperate genetic experiments made in an effort to save the Terran Expeditionary Fleet launched from Earth five hundred years earlier. After centuries of strife with the Non-Edenics, the Edenics have finally vowed to wipe them out. But the Non-Edenics are fighting back, and they have grown frighteningly strong.

Tom Lawson is a soldier in the war, on the Edenic side. Tom and his comrades encounter the enemy on a mission to a remote planetoid. Unbeknownst to Tom, the planetoid houses an alien machine of incredible power. While battling the enemy, Tom is inadvertently sent by the machine five hundred years and an impossible distance away: back to the home planet, Earth - the Earth of a time when World War II convulses the nations of the world.

There, Tom will meet his very special destiny.
