Step inside the secretive world of private investigation—where the truth is rarely simple and every case tells a story. In Confessions of a Private Eye, nationally recognized private investigator Scott Fulmer pulls back the curtain on nearly three decades of real-life investigations that are often stranger—and more suspenseful—than fiction. From kidnapped children and missing diamonds to high-dollar insurance scams, Fulmer has spent his career uncovering the truth hidden beneath carefully crafted lies. Ride along on some of the most unusual cases of his career: • Busting a fake chiropractic clinic involved in a fraud scheme • Recovering thousands of dollars worth of stolen tortillas • Proving an “injured” stripper wasn’t injured at all • Tracking down missing property and unraveling complex insurance scams A lifetime in pursuit of the truth What began as a childhood fascination with the mysteries of Sherlock Holmes eventually led Fulmer into a remarkable investigative career spanning the country. His work has taken him from the streets of San Francisco to a secret cave investigation in rural Pennsylvania, where he began conducting investigations for the U.S. government. Along the way, he has investigated: • Workers’ compensation fraud • Employee theft • Human smuggling • Runaway cases • Cheating spouses Sometimes, even working alongside federal agents. Inside the real world of private investigators In these pages, Fulmer reveals how he got his start in the private investigation business, the lessons he learned along the way, and the investigative techniques that helped him solve some of his toughest cases. Not every investigation has a happy ending—but every case reveals something fascinating about human nature and the relentless pursuit of the truth. Confessions of a Private Eye is your backstage pass into the hidden world of professional detectives—complete with surveillance tactics, investigative strategies, and the surprising realities of life as a private investigator. Readers who enjoy true crime, real investigations, and behind-the-scenes detective stories will find themselves turning pages late into the night. Names, locations, and identifying details have been changed to protect the privacy of the innocent—and the guilty. Crímenes Reales Biografías y Memorias Emocionante Criminología Ciencias Sociales

More than just a narrative on crime. The book offers perspective on how people turned to criminality like the mother/daughter fraudsters mentioned in the book. Unlike other authors, Scott doesn't lean into the extreme dark side of his investigations. He instead crafts a more compelling story by detailing cause, effect, and the lives affected. He also isn't shy about exposing the mundane nature of PI work; like sitting for four hours or days staring through the car windshield waiting for something to happen. Scott lets us look through his eyes as he silently monitors the targets of his investigations.

He's been the business long enough to recall when the profession's standards were loose and shares some trade-craft from those outlaw days.

Enjoyed all the South Texas references since I also called that area home for about ten years. One on my favorite parts of the book involves someone who almost hired him because he charged too much. That decision cost them a lot more than money in the long run. Overall it is an interesting career retrospective of a private investigator. He runs a podcast and has a great voice so hoping he'll narrate the next book. Confessions of a Private Eye is part autobiography, part true crime, and an education on how people game the system. I recommend it.
