Phoenix Gets Her Chance

The Emotions are somehow Realistic

It's a charming and smoothly flowing tale, albeit somewhat predictable. I stumbled upon this ebook without prior exposure to the series and, although I had to briefly step away for errands, I managed to listen to the entire book. This story stands alone fairly well, as long as you don't get too caught up in the side characters' subplots, which left me a bit bewildered. The epilogue seemed like a heartfelt nod to long-lasting couples and a teaser for the next installment in the series.

Regarding the narrators, particularly the male one, I admired how they skillfully shifted voices in Chapter 35, effortlessly portraying the three characters, complete with the elderly ladies' cracked voices.

Overall, it may not be my top pick for the bookshelf, given my limited exposure to the series, but I must acknowledge the moments I enjoyed. Particularly, when Griffin took responsibility for his mistakes and when Phoenix communicated before things got too complicated. It's refreshing that the author avoided the unrealistic trope of characters staying in love despite their terrible actions, steering clear of normalizing toxic relationships.
