Resumen del Editor

The conclusion of the Quincy Harker/Bubba the Monster Hunter Crossover is here!

It's been a long trip, and the body count has been devastating. But despite all their losses, Quincy Harker and his team must soldier on and finish the job. And this job is hunting the SOB that's been making their lives a living hell for the last two years.

Who is behind the corruption at DEMON?

Who is this mysterious Chancellor?

Why are there Nazis in Virginia?

What the hell is up with that burrito truck?!?

There will be explosions, bloodshed, battle, and revelations galore as Harker, Bubba, and both their teams band together in a fight that has been brewing far longer than Harker has any idea. Old grudges will be brought to light, world-wide conspiracies will be uncovered, and deep dark secrets will come back out of the past to haunt Harker and his whole crew as he answers for mistakes of his past in Comes A Reckoning.

Fun Listen

This is an enjoyable book but I think the series is running out of steam. Some villains pop up in a deus ex machina kind of way while others are telegraphed from the very beginning.

The commentary on the modern day world does hit home a bit but in a very good way.

I Fukin Hate Nazis, but I Fukin love Quincy Harker

Obviously if you are reading this series you understand the title of my review!
I love every bit of this irreverently worded fantasy series with genuinely fresh takes on classic characters and it is one of the few series I have listed to multiple times while waiting for new books to become available. Honestly besides the Orphan X, series, and the Viktor the assassin series this is the only series I have listed to all the way through multiple times.
I love vampire stories, but I don’t want my vamps to be porn stars or to sparkle! Luke is a total bad ass and Harker is everything I want a magical hybrid of Dracula to be.

Now I’m to my one single issue.
The only thing that worries me is that there seems to be several woke themes creeping into the writing of this series, and I’m hoping that is just coincidence because of the inherent need to make sure everyone understands “FUCK NAZIS” and not a portent of what’s to come. Too many book series I loved have been ruined by bringing politics or the green agenda, or really any kind of far left or far right personal ethos into the writing. These books should be an escape from reality, not a reminder of how fucked the world is and continues to be because the middle ground is a barren wasteland in todays America and more broadly the world! All I ask if my favorite authors is to not push their personal politely agenda on me through fiction books, especially dark fantasy or urban fantasy etc. this is not nor will it ever be the place for that. If I wanted to get hit with those themes I would be reading non fiction, or simply watching the damn Lame stream media!

Reaper reckoning with a Bubba assist

What’s better than a snarky monster hunter? Why two snarky monster hunters, of course. Harker’s Scooby gang gets an assist from redneck Bubba & Company from the author’s other series. While I found the other series a bit more juvenile, Bubba’s contribution as a “this town ain’t big enough for the both of us meat heads” supporting character works without taking over Harker’s story. It’s not necessary to have read the other series to enjoy the crossover. Pay attention at the start of each chapter announcing the POV because both guys sound so alike, it can be hard to remember who’s POV is on.

This book ends the Chancellor/Nazi trilogy, unless you count the Flash Gordon ending (which I don’t). While the plot was rather predictable, I still enjoyed the pulpy good times and the self-aware nods to comic book superhero stories and pop culture references.

Given the Marvel nods, however, there was a missed opportunity for an Avengers Assemble final battle. Perhaps because there was only one big bad, instead of a colorful team of baddies, I felt like the team members were under utilized and it ended up being The Quincy Harker show a lot of the time. But, I get it; he IS the headliner. And he puts on a mouthy, vicious good show.

Intense!

This book was more intense than I expected! It's no wonder John brought in the redneck to be comic relief, because Quincy was too busy killing Nazis!

Eighth book and loved them all..

This is the end of Harker’s Story but this author could’ve gone on and on with this series as far as I’m concerned. I absolutely loved Harker and Beck’s and Glory and Luke as well as all the other heroes. As for the continuation with Bubba as the hero I won’t be going forward with that series. I simply can’t see a hero with a ponytail down the middle of his back and a nasty beard like ZZ Top down the middle of his chest. That would be a hard pass for me.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 134 times.

As for the narration: fabulous!

Had to go there

The series as whole was a good listen. I got to the last book and it was so woke it made me cringe. Politics aside it would be an excellent listen. Woah is me because of race is getting old. I didn’t even know one of characters was “ of color “ till the book went where a novel about killing monsters should never go. One thing not everyone in the south are racist rednecks not all whites regardless of politics are nazis. Not all people of color are discriminated against. The last novel in the series full of woke politics and does not represent the majority of Americans opinions on either side.

great but a little inconsistent

I love a series overall but it has been kind of inconsistent and those inconsistencies drive me crazy. he will fight one type of being that is a half breed but will not believe in the existence of its other half of its parental lineage he makes references to things he says he has no idea what they are because of his age and then immediately references something super secure about it in the same book. but the immersiveness gets ruined when you feel like there's a glitch in The Matrix.

Absolutely fantastic

Another great addition to the series. Well written and wraps this arc up nicely with a great clue to the next arc. This book is all about punching nazis. If you are disturbed by “virtue signaling” as another review mentions. It’s because you are part of the new alt right movement that is currently ongoing and don’t like it when nazis get punched in the face.
