His six-year-old daughter, Sara and police lieutenant wife, Ginger, were devastated, and due to a comedy of errors, no leads were forthcoming.
Almost a year later, in early December, Ginger asked her daughter what she wanted Santa to bring her for Christmas. In tears, she explains that she no longer believes in Santa Claus. Her friend had told her that he is just your daddy; now she no longer has one.
That night, after watching the movie, Peter Pan and Wendy, Ginger and Sara lie down together to try to sleep. Soon they find that they have traveled back in time to the ancient city of Myra, Asia Minor in the year 333 A.D. where they meet the kind bishop, St. Nicholas. A fairy-like teen translates for them. After riding with him in his carriage to secretly give a bag of gold coins to a farmer for his oldest daughter’s dowry, on the way back, they witness a brutal murder.
The next morning, Ginger and Sara visit Santa at a local mall and are shocked to discover that St. Nicholas has materialized into the 21st century. He asks Sara what she wants for Christmas, and she tells him that all she asks is for her daddy to come home.
St. Nicholas told Sara that he would see what he could do, and explains to Ginger that the murder that they had witnessed the night before had actually occurred in Nashville that very same night.
With Santa’s help, Ginger eventually solves the murder. But Christmas came and went and Frank was still not home.
What would happen when Sara found out that not everything we ask Santa for comes true?
Did St. Nick really know what had happened to Sara’s daddy? Would they ever see him again?
