A master at the top of his game

Mick Herron, once again, shows why he’s at the top of his game, and why his slow horses are a bunch of the most interesting characters in spy literature.

Great plot, horrible narrator

I really dislike thus narrator. Instant Xanax and not in a good way. A real shame because this is such a great entry in the slough house series.

Gripping story, excellent performance by Gerard Doyle

I can drop in at any point and recognize a character by the voice Doyle uses. Fantastic. The story twists and the suspense tightens. But still the humor. Great writing.

the outstanding writing

Gerard Doyle's narration is terrific as usual, with one quibble: he makes the four 70 year olds sound like they're 90--quavering, ancient voices. Too easy a shortcut for making characters sound different and off-putting.

Set Up for Next Book

All the books in the series are fantastic and Mick Herron is, in my opinion, on par with le Carré. Clown Town is a bit different. Without giving spoilers, it’s a set up for the next book in the series. It’s not quite a cliffhanger, but there are more unresolved plot elements than usual.

Another masterful novel

Mick Herron has written another masterful novel in the Slow Horses series, and I can’t wait to see where he takes the Slough House crew next. This novel, like the others in the series, was performed impeccably by Gerard Doyle. A must read.

As good as every book in the series

I did not see the ending coming. Listened to itv3 times just to be sure.

It was just perfect as to be expected

The slaugh house series is about the most perfect spy books ever. Smart, funny, ironic, deep and entertaining. What can one expect more from a book? I warmly recommend.

Pitch Perfect as always

There are not enough superlatives to describe this series and this latest edition does not disappoint.
