When fates intertwine amid the madness of Mardi Gras, chaos reigns supreme.

In the haunted French Quarter, where Creole spirits drift through Mardi Gras chaos, a malicious voodoo curse sparks mayhem in the Crescent City’s underground world. When a crew boat sinks, releasing sociopathic assassin Jacque Leguerre, the vengeful killer storms into New Orleans, hell-bent on making Catholic priest Father Alphonso pay for past sins in a chilling New Orleans noir story of paranormal crime.

N.O.P.D. homicide detective Tony Nicosia hunts the ruthless mob murderer responsible for a brutal killing, while grappling with a new partner and a passionate affair with the mysterious Venus Hernandez. In this gritty southern mystery, Crescent City paranormal investigator Wyatt Thomas takes on a wealthy client’s strange request to prove his “pure white” lineage, only to uncover dark Creole secrets that threaten his growing romance with the client’s alluring daughter, Desire.

As voodoo-laced intrigue and ghostly apparitions swirl through the haunted urban fantasy, these lives collide in a pulse-pounding thriller of a mystery. Will Father Alphonso survive Jacque’s wrath? Can Tony catch the killer before his marriage crumbles? And will Wyatt’s romance and love for Desire withstand the occult conspiracy unraveling her family’s past?

Perfect for fans of Southern gothic thrillers and hard-boiled, paranormal detective noir, City of Spirits is a gripping supernatural whodunit that plunges you into the twisted occult crimes of New Orleans’ deadly streets. Buckle up for a fun, racy, and haunting detective story and wild, plot-twisting ride through the City of Spirits.

The story was phenomenal! I set a timer and kept resetting it and before I knew it I heard the closing credits. Despite the VV, I've already downloaded the next book. I wish there was an actual narrator, The NOLA accents would have made it even better.

Loved the Story, VV was disappointing

Need a Louisiana Cajun to pronounce names the way they’re really pronounced. Being raised in LA, pronunciations were distracting

Characters well defined

Virtual-Voice does not do justice to this writer.

I would listen to many of the books by Eric Wilder if not for Virtual-Voice.

There are so many nuances of regional expression that are ruined by the computer generated voice.

Even if these stories were read by a real human northerner I doubt that they would truly do them justice.

These books need to be read by a person who speaks "New Orleans Talk" & understand its dialects.
(New Orleans "talk" refers to the city's unique dialect, characterized by its strong accent, slang, and a blend of French, Spanish, and African influences.)
Maybe if they had Virtual-Voice with a French accent or with a southern drawl, maybe that would be passable.

I hope in the future we see these books read by a real person who can do them justice.

A Pretty Good Story - But Virtual-Voice Really ?

I’m used to the narrator from his previous books so the computer generated voices was a bit awkward. I enjoyed the storyline.

Enjoyed the story line as with his previous books.
