The best book I’ve ever read! — Soto
(Which, to be fair, doesn’t mean much. Soto’s in the book and hasn’t read many.)
These are the stories no recruiter will ever tell you.
No battlefield medals. No hero speeches. Just a group of misfit soldiers stuck overseas during the COVID era — dodging wild boars, breaking rules, and trying not to lose their minds.
I’m Chase — formerly Sergeant Thweatt. Freed from any obligation to the U.S. Government, I can finally tell you what military life is actually like behind the scenes.
I wrote this book for two reasons:
• First, to tell my friends funny stories.
• Second, to point out some of the dumb stuff our government does with all of your hard-earned tax dollars.
If you’re looking for another polished war story, this ain’t it.
But if you’ve ever served — or ever wondered what really happens behind the curtain — this might feel a little like swapping stories around a fire.
From the stench of Venice to the stench of Somalia, from late-night lockdowns to leadership decisions that made no damn sense, these are the moments we actually lived through.
True. Unfiltered. And sometimes so absurd you couldn’t make them up if you tried.
