Christo-Pagano: Shadows of the Cross in the North is a work of fire and frost, of sagas and scripture, of shadows bending toward light.

The North remembers in fragments. The myths of Baldr, Oðinn, and Loki do not reach us in untouched pagan voice but through vellum inked by baptized scribes. Far from erasing the old stories, Christianity preserved them—shaped, refracted, yet still alive. In their retelling, echoes of the gospel resound: Baldr the beloved son slain and promised to return, Oðinn pierced upon the tree, Loki bound until the world’s end, Ragnarök trembling with Revelation’s fire.

This is not syncretism, but fulfillment. Not erasure, but transfiguration. The sagas become shadows of Christ, praeparatio evangelica—preparation for the gospel in northern tongue. To be Norse Christian is no betrayal of ancestors, but a recognition that their myths longed for the very truth revealed at Calvary.

Part history, part meditation, Christo-Pagano invites both pagan and Christian readers to wrestle with the fragments, to hear the sagas not as rivals to the gospel but as echoes of it. The result is a vision fierce, poetic, and unapologetically hopeful: that even in the frost-bitten songs of the North, the cross has always cast its shadow.
