Excellent author narration

If you’ve watched the 2007 film “Meet the Robinsons,” this feels a lot like an adult version of that. The family she’s welcomed into is similarly gloriously weird and fun…but in definitely more adult ways (for instance in the Cinderella-themed pantomime, the evil stepsister characters are named Fanny and Titti Munschen and several scenes have fun with that)

The love is very sweet and entirely supportive, there are many funny scenes involving the MMC’s puckish father in particular, and the whole thing is expertly narrated by the author herownself, which is an accomplishment. Rarely do authors manage to sound like professional narrators, but she does … maybe she is, I haven’t checked.

The book waits until approximately 2/3 of the way through before intimate scenes begin happening, and by then of course they feel well-earned. There are multiple intimate scenes taking place through the last 1/3 of the book. If you prefer clean romance it might feel like too much, but I enjoyed the story enough that after the first one (which again, felt well-deserved at that point) I just skipped through them.
