Resumen del Editor

Christianity is declining rapidly, and Christians are actively deconstructing their core beliefs. If Christianity does not change, millions of people will continue to be traumatized by bad Christian business models and tens of thousands of churches will close their doors over the next decade. Rather than destroy Christianity, deconstruction can save it. Christianity Without Dogma was created to help people think through this more systematically. Without dogma, more people will be able to flourish spiritually, and deconstructed churches may even be able to start growing again.

Author Jack Bergstrand isn’t a ministry professional or pastor. He’s not interested in convincing you to believe a certain way. Instead, he draws from his background as a successful business consultant to help listeners see the big picture of how Christianity works, how it got hijacked, and even how deconstruction can help save it.

for when you feel you're losing faith

"Experiencing greater consciousness is like being in an airplane where we are able to see the blue sky above he gray clouds. Christians can suspend their judgments and be freer to adapt to new information as consciousness increases. With less consciousness, all they can do is deny the facts and dig in their heels."

Christianity Without Dogma is such a great tool for both Christians and Non-Christians who are looking for ways to find spiritual strength in the world. I think the title itself allows the reader to understand before even reading that yes, you can find and faith through Christianity in all forms. I'm appreciative of the opportunity Jack Bergstrand took to use multiple testimonies and viewpoints because I felt that it truly helps to validate that it's ok to live your life different from another and still do/be good in the world.

Super interesting, clear and intriguing

Let me start by saying that I do not practice a religion nor was I raised with any religious faith. Although I am not a “non-believer”, I have just never found anything that made much sense scientifically and factually.

Coming from that background, I was not sure how I would navigate through this audiobook or if I would even enjoy it.

But let me tell you, this was interesting!!!
I did not realize that there was such a sharp decline in church membership or that it was now “your grandfather’s faith” as the younger generations church going is declining.

The topic of this book peaked my interest and the information we received kept me engaged. The narration was very well done.
I highly recommend reading this book, no matter what your religious background is.

Very Enlighting

Religion can be such a hard topic for some to approach. I’m in the group of people who avoids talking about it in mixed company due to the obvious judgment that can happen. Spirituality in general should be a very personal thing. The way the author creates a “safe place” of sorts to help guide you felt so good! Instead of pushing you into a set mold for faith, they instead help you to stop and think about what having a religious belief means for you. The author talks about finding what works for you, whether that’s prayer, readings and perhaps channeling them into something else that benefits you overall. I really appreciated that this wasn’t what is expected for books on this subject. Instead of feeling preached to, I felt comforted and felt valid in how I felt. I came away with a better idea of finding some peace in all of it. I also enjoyed that this was very thought-provoking. This book was very enlightening! The narration was on point and only added to the fact I felt like I was being “talked” to by someone with respect for what they were reading.

Great book for those of us questioning.

I was raised Catholic and work in a Catholic school and this book was very helpful in validating and helping me understand my own thoughts and reactions to dualistic thinking within Christianity.

Very helpful

I really appreciated how this audiobook gave different points of view on religion. Because religion can be such an uncomfortable topic to discuss, it it is nice to be able to read about people’s true thoughts and experiences. It did not feel like I was just being talked at but like I was part of a conversation. I was very please with the narrator of this book. I feel like he really brought the listening experience to life. I would recommend this to anyone who feels like they are curious or want to be a part of Christianity but aren’t exactly feeling or matching up with how it’s playing out in society.

Makes you Ponder

If you are a Christian and feel as if you don’t quite fit in the predestined mold, this book just may be for you. This book was not very controversial as one may think. I feel that the author did an excellent job in discussing multiple viewpoints of his readers/listeners. Some of the topics absolutely make one think deeper upon the subject. As a Christian, I’ve always felt a little nervous since I didn’t quite fit in the mold that is set forth. This book actually discusses in detail some of my own pondering and makes me feel more at ease with my faith. This book was well written and narrated. The narrator was clear, concise, and had wonderful pitch and tone. This book was easy on the ears and I absolutely loved it! I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to listen!

a book of clarity and understanding.

Whether you were brought up in a religious family or discovered Christianity on your own, this book helps you celebrate your personal connection with God and to create your own path. Jack Bergstrand is a wise and gifted writer. He gives you different perspectives on why it’s important for you to look inside yourself and develop your own understanding. I liked the way Bergstrand invited you in and joined him on this journey of clarity. He wasn’t pushing a specific way and it never felt that he was saying you had to follow this way. It was a relatable, open discussion.
Scott Pollack narrated with a confident masculine voice. He brought depth and volume to the topics of Bergstrand’s words. This was easy to listen to. The words flowed rhythmically with good pause and timing. I would recommend this book to those who may need a little help clarifying their goals and inner strength.

A Great Listen If You're Looking For Inner Clarity

I loved the layout of "Christianity Without Dogma" by Jack Bergstrand. I have been going through a transition in the past few years where I feel like my spirituality is growing, but my religion is stagnant and not keeping up. I've had to question many of the practices and what I want for my life, my family's life and what I'm willing to let go of. It was so wonderful to hear this is a normal part of development and ok to question why you do what you do. I appreciated how Bergstrand talked about how you can evolve some of the practices you want to cling to (ie prayer) into something else (ie meditation). It validated my feelings and helped me find an inner peace in the decisions I have been making as I find a "new normal" in my world.

This book was very clear about how to find the charts/figures and additional info, which I really loved. I sometimes struggle with this in audiobooks. Overall, it was a very easy listen and had me pausing to take notes throughout. I would recommend this to anyone looking to understand their feelings, know more about the practices they have been raised with and see that they don't have to let it all go (if they wish -- I wholeheartedly believe in letting it go if it doesn't serve you).

Interesting

It was interesting and I guess if you haven't been attending a church that had encouraged independent thought and personal study then it would useful. However, for me, a lot of what he described in his "deconstruction" were things I have been challenged to do since middle school. He uses the word deconstruction over and over again, but never truly defines it. The personal stories seemed scripted as they all used the same language.
