Have you ever wondered what it would be like to truly love you? Well, I wondered that once. I wondered what it would be like to feel WORTHY enough to be someone's wife. Being in a three-year relationship, I woke up one day with the realization I didn't love myself. I didn't feel "good enough" to be someone's wife. I didn't feel worthy enough to be someone's girlfriend. So, what did I do? Well, I was living with my boyfriend at the time, but I decided to end that relationship. Living together for a month when you aren't technically together is extremely awkward, but you know what's more awkward? What is more awkward is having that realization and not taking action. Sometimes we have to stop lying to ourselves and face facts. The facts were, I didn't love myself.
Choose You, but You Choose is a play on words to showcase the gift we are all given: the freedom of choice. We all can choose to love ourselves, but we don’t always choose to do what is truly best for us. We sometimes choose to stay in that relationship or friendship because we are comfortable and couldn’t imagine what our life would be like without them. Sometimes we choose to drown in our own personal vices…whether that be men/women, alcohol, our career, drugs, or material things. The thing is, whatever vice of choice you choose, it will never fulfill you. I would know. I have tried a majority of them. What I will tell you though, is the choice is ultimately yours. You can choose to learn how to love yourself or you can choose that vice of yours.
Regardless, I know you will figure it out, because I did. Just be sure to give yourself grace along the way and know you are worthy of loving yourself, trusting yourself, and choosing yourself. I may not be a gambler, but I will say this. Sometimes the risk of “losing it all” is worth it. There comes a time in life where you have to put it all on the table and bet on yourself. Are you ready? I hope you are because all my money is on YOU, and I never lose...
