Valentine’s Day is a day away and Sylvia Parker is excited to receive a box of chocolates with a note from a secret admirer. The note tells her to go to the bar at the Red Lyon Inn with a red rose – her secret date will bring a white one. But when Parker discovers everyone at the bar has a red rose, she is supremely disappointed. Especially since many chefs and former cooks received the same note, even Guy Vanduex.

Vanduex and Parker were partners in crime-solving, but their private investigative agency had seen better days (as has their friendship). But when a hated food critic gets murder near the Red Lyon Inn, it’s up to Guy Vanduex and Sylvia Parker to work together again and find a needle in the haystack… every chef has a motive, even Vanduex.

You have done an injustice to the author because I can’t tell you if the writing was good or not. I put the speed as high as it would go and turned the volume down. To finish it, because it wouldn’t let me leave a review unless I finished it and that was the only way it was happening!
