Deep in the Appalachians a coal mining company's slurry pond collapses sending billions of gallons barreling down the mountain gathering everything in its path as the avalanche of toxic waste crashes through a secret government research facility before destroying Black Bear Creek. The disaster releases the research experiment the government was creating--a new life form is unleashed on an unsuspecting world. Survivors struggle against the disaster and unknown enemies lie in wait to terminate any leaks to the outside world. Government cover ups, corporate sabotage, and the cataclysmic sludgeslide all threaten the lives of the survivors in a 48-hour battle of good versus evil. Ripped from the headlines, this sci-fi environmental thriller is based on facts and what can go wrong when regulations become too lax and humans push the limits of creation. The destruction created by coal mountain top mining is unnecessary and abominable. Genetic engineering is questionable, especially without oversight by ethical panels to ensure we are not creating and experimenting on sentient life.
