Resumen del Editor

No matter how far humanity comes, it can't escape its own worst impulses in this far-future science fiction thriller from the author of The Ark.

A new generation comes of age 18 years after humanity arrived on the colony planet Gaia. Now threats from both within and outside their Trident threaten everything they've built.

The discovery of an alien installation inside Gaia's moon, terrorist attacks and the kidnap of a man's daughter stretch the community to breaking point, but only two men stand a chance of solving all three mysteries before the makeshift planetary government shuts everything down.

I really hope this is not the end folks!

What three words best describe Mirron Willis’s performance?

Lots of energy.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Can they keep from repeating the past?

Any additional comments?

I want to see where this goes next. Any chance we will see more books in this universe?

Cultures Collide

First off, imo this series is one of the absolute best in SF right now... Right up there w/ The Expanse and the like... I can count on one hand the current SF fare as good as or better... Each book takes a different slant and perspective. The first was a well wrought space whodunit, the second an original first contact tale, and this one gets into a bit of a next gen perspective w/ culture clash and friction... What's fresh here is the cultures and peer groups commingling and taking on the doctrines of the others, along both positive and destructive avenues... Modernity meets primitivism... Growing up together on both the societal macro level, and individual micro... It's a little whiny to start, but it is about young peoples maturing quickly, learning to get along, and operate out of their comfort zones, and is gotten over quickly as the story direction gets moving... Love the apprenticing and fostering between species, as well as the burgeoning reintroduction of football;). There will always be those uncomfortable, and at times combative, when change comes, much less the critical analysis of what is firmly believed and internalized... This telling approaches these things w/ insight and freshness... Culture shock, prejudices, and evolution are exquisitely examined... Evocative settings and imagery, and some superbly realized and reflective characters... You've got your aliens, advanced technology, cosmic mysteries, and so much more... Throw in some at times wicked/risque humor, subtly dropped cinematic one liners, and you've got yourself a thoroughly enjoyable read, especially if you choose to start from the beginning... The narration is quite good barring some odd pronunciations at times, and there are one or two Atlantean anatomy/physiology inconsistencies that niggle a bit, so 4.5* rounded up... Treat yourself and check the series out, you'll thank me...

Nice Wrap Up

I have really enjoyed this series, the characters are great fully fleshed out and interesting. The story has depth and this book leaves an opportunity for another series.
