Acerca de esta escucha
You can change the way you look, but you can’t change what’s in your heart.
Getting a rental house in the mountains with a pool for the summer was supposed to bring Julia and her friends together after a long school year. No school, no work, no demands from life. Freedom.
Julia struggled throughout the year to get over her break from Dorian. She changed her hair and her attitude about the world. She wasn’t looking for love. She wasn’t interested in testing new waters. All she wanted was to relax by the pool, a drink in hand, and her friends around her.
When she meets Chef Simon, the sparks fly, despite her resistance. The older man made her laugh. He had an easy way about him. He was like a decadent snack discovered at the right time. But when her friend Harry shows up in town, she knows Dorian would follow along. Her easy summer quickly becomes more complicated.
Does she chase after her soulmate or give new love a fighting chance?

She was giving him a hard time, and she hoped that he understood that. She thought nothing but great things of him. It was falling in love all over again for her. She had to mask her feelings a little in case he was not on the same page.
“Are you sure you should be in here, alone with me? What would your boyfriend say?” he asked. She bit her lips as she stared at his. He had a strong jawline, she remarked. These were little things that would have escaped her in the past. When you are with someone day after day, it becomes easy not to see the little things about them that others might see.
“He is not my boyfriend,” she said. He smirked. He touched her hair and moved it out of her face.
“It’s not easy being here with you, I have to admit that,” he said. “I was also hiding from you earlier,” he added.
“Why is that?” she asked.
“It’s taken everything in me not to touch you,” he said.
“I wish you would,” she said.
It was an unusual response from Julia in that it was fully cemented in truth. She wanted to be touched by him. She missed his touch, his kisses. She missed his embrace. The fact that he had been restraining himself gave her butterflies. She was getting ready to tell him that Simon was a potential and not a done deal when Dorian leaned in and kissed her. It surprised her. She should have seen it coming. It was a perfect set up. He planted an idea to see if she was open to it. She was surprised all the same. It made her happy that he kissed her. She no longer had to recall what it was like to kiss him. His soft lips enveloped hers. It was like being in the boys’ locker room when they were in the eleventh grade, making out while their friends were outside waiting for them.
He got down from the washer and faced her, standing between her legs. She touched his face. True love, she thought. How she’d give anything to have him back. She kissed him, twirling her tongue inside his mouth. He playfully bit her lips. He knew how much she liked to be nibbled on. She exhaled. Breath, air, life. She could use more of this in her life.
