A two-part essay addressing contemporary crises in economy, technology, civilization, and culture.
Part-One dissects the fallacies of current economic theories as the world hovers on the precipice of unsustainable debt and failing public services. To survive economic chaos, we propose a practical scheme to fund necessary public services and infrastructure at no cost to taxpayers through a specialized central bank facility.
Part-Two examines the realistic threats from Artificial Intelligence and seeks answers to the following issues: How are Information Technology and the internet transforming job markets, human psychology, medicine, and education? How does the digital world, expressed as weapons of mass distraction, affect the state of popular culture and the generational divide? When does technology become technocracy? We reflect on the serious directions in which technology enhances and distorts the qualities which make us human. From character to consciousness, to the ties that bind us together as families, communities and nations, the unprecedented proliferation of consumer technology is molding our future in ways we can barely fathom. What are the unintended consequences of Information Technology? How do we balance technology and humanistic values?
