Cauldrons Call, by New York Times best-selling author Kristen Proby, is the highly anticipated second book in the Curse of the Blood Moon series.
Breena has known Giles all her life—and has loved him for nearly as long. Linked by the ties of family and coven, Breena has had a lifetime to discover everything there is to know about him. His intelligence and specialization in crystals and gems are truly things to admire, but it’s how he smiles at her that really makes her cauldron bubble. Too bad he’s completely oblivious.
Giles isn’t as oblivious as Breena thinks he is. A powerful witch, he’s spent most of his life hiding his true feelings from her, but he can’t ignore the fact that she’s hurting and plagued by the same nightmares that haunt him every night. So, getting her to move in with him so he can do just that seems like simple common sense. The hard part will be resisting the way Breena makes him feel.
But evil has invaded their world, and it has the power to kill every witch in Salem. Breena has no time to wallow in what might have been and Giles desire to protect her is stronger than the power contained in his crystals. Together they must lift the curse of the blood moon before time runs out. If they can’t, the people Breena loves the most are all in danger. It will take every skill she’s honed as a witch to protect what’s hers and the man who cast a spell on her heart.
Will they have time to kindle their love for each other, or will the clock run out at the hands of fate?

Content review:
I’m running out of superlatives for Kristen Proby’s books!!!! I’m going to have to switch to exclamation points LOL!! Book 2 is the Curse of the Blood Moon series is everything you could hope for and then some. Cauldron’s Call finds a different couple from our Circle of Six at the heart of the saga. I loved Breena and Giles in Hallows End. Ever since Lorelei spilled the beans about Breena’s crush I’ve been dying to know more.
We start with Breena still effectively avoiding Giles. I mean who wouldn’t when you oh-so-loving cousin outs your unrequited crush on you lifelong (and older) friend? But what will she do when she finds out that it might not be as unrequited as she thought. For Giles’s part, he has his work cut out for him. It’s not even that he has to fight that hard for Breena to give him a chance. He just had to convince her to stay near him long enough to actually say exactly what she wants to hear.
For my part, I am invested in this story. I couldn’t put it down because I love the world that Kristen Proby has built and I just have to know what happens next. My interest is definitely peaked by the hints of future storylines that we get. Much like with Lorelei spilling the beans to Giles about Breena’s crush in book 1, this one gives us glimpses into what awaits Lorelei and X in book 3, Salem’s Song (and have you seen that cover?!?! So gorgeous!). I am definitely hooked and will be back as soon as I can get my hands on it to find out what happened in the past that drove Lorelei and X apart and also what’s in store for our friends as they prepare for the final battle to break the Curse of the Blood Moon to save Hallows End!
Absolutely loved it!

Cauldrons Call is the perfect follow up to Hallows End, because it continues right after the events of the first book, while giving us insight into Breena and Giles’ love story. I’m so glad that Lorelei spilled the beans on Hallows End, because without her ‘indiscretion’ I don’t think we would have gotten this romance so soon – though not soon enough – because apparently Breena’s thought to be unrequited lifetime crush for Giles isn’t one sided at all, he just hadn’t allow himself to see what was right in front of him, but once his eyes were open, he was all in!
Kristen Proby manages to capture seemingly effortlessly this aura of mystic and supernatural vibes, that left me honestly creeped out, in the best of ways, while reading this book alone in the dark, on the late hours of the night. It gave me goosebumps while doing so, so kudos to the author for giving us this ghostly atmosphere! Much like her first Paranormal series, I love that in The Curse of The Blood Moon we have a conduit of global mystery/suspense that binds all the storylines, while showing us each of the couples’ love tale. I was completely immersed in extra spooky, sexy and lovely read, and can’t wait for Lorelei and Xander, and the summit of this series, I’m dying of curiosity to see what happens next!

I could tell in book one of this series Hallows End that Breena was the cousin with her heart fully invested in the man who was to be hers. There was no hesitancy she was just all in.
Giles on the other hand took some convincing but even I think he knew that Breena as always meant to be his. Whether it was by fate or design once he found out her feelings, he knew that he was all in.
This book picks up close to where book one left off and the cousins know that the evil isn't fully eradicated, but they do believe they have some time. Time to form a plan until the next Samhain but the evil that has been lurking around isn't going to wait, he is going to get what he believes he is owed.
Parts of this book were just a bit of filler, but I found I didn't mind it all. It was still very much a five star listen for me and that could have had something to do with Sebastian York and Samantha Brentmoor. They did a fantastic job with the narration of the first book so I had no doubts this narration would be just as good.
We only have a few months until the release of Salems Song the last book in the series and Kirsten Proby has hyped up Xander and Lorelei's past so much I am on pins and needles waiting for it.
Five spooky & swoony stars!!
