Sophie is elated when she is allowed to ride the stables’ new horse, Goosey. But what will she do when her horse riding money runs out? She is still puzzling over the question, when Sophie's Granny falls seriously ill. When all the family are called to Granny’s bedside for the Sacrament of the Sick, Sophie learns that death and suffering entered the world because of original sin, but we live in hope because Jesus has conquered all. A Catholic story, suitable for children of all ages, but particularly for those of around seven years who are preparing for First Holy Communion. Suitable for parents to read to children, for catechists to use as a discussion point, and with simple enough language for children to read themselves. Children will learn that Jesus calls us to store up treasure for ourselves in heaven, rather than on earth, and that God has conquered death and suffering which entered the world as a result of original sin, but which should not put us off believing and trusting in God.
