perfect introduction to half share
perfect introduction to how Sarah Krug got on the Lois McKendrick. I think Sarahs punishing otto was misdirected and rushed at the end though.
I'm actually hoping that there's a third book in this series that follows Otto and changes in the shamans. and also to explain the original history of the welkies.

Ugh, This book is so good
It's annoying how good Nathan Lowell is at giving us complex and realistic characters, ones that have flaws and make mistakes but also try to do the right thing. People are complex and it can be difficult to show that in books when one of your characters is the protagonist and others are just there to help tell the protagonist's story.
This book did not follow the path of what I expected, I'm not mad about it but it certainly wasn't where I thought it was going to go.
Nathan doesn't shy away from hard subjects, but he doesn't dwell on them longer than they need to.
I really really want the next book now.

I’ve never been more….
disappointed in characters than in this story. How can grandparents and a good father all miss the obvious signs & one honest warning of an abusive predator. Now I’m depressed. Not certain if I’ll finish the series. I do not expect “happily ever after” in every story I read but this ending hurts.
