If Shane Larson really did write this book, he has mastered the art of using a lot of words to say a whole bunch of nothing, as well as anyone who truly is human ever has.

I downloaded this book because (a) it was free, and (b) the Phoenicians are the ancient Mediterranean civilization I know least about. The Minoans, the Greeks, Assyrians, Hebrews, Egyptians, and even the Hittites are peoples I have read much more about. Honestly, I wasn't expecting a lot from a free book that is less than five hours long. But I am willing to bet any 7th grade teacher could do more. Schedule those kids three classes on the Phoenecians in an ancient history class, and those kids will learn more about the Phoenecians than this book shares.

If my primary guess at this being AI is incorrect, my second guess was that Shane Larson was channeling his inner rookie tour guide. Imagine a tour guide who is pretty new at his job. He really doesn't have much more information than what the brochure can provide, but he has to lead people through some ancient Phoenician archaeological site.
