Happy times arrive in central Florida as Joy, Anna, and Whitney, prepare to renovate an old warehouse into a place where kids of all ages can hang out and learn how to ‘pay it forward’. Because of an endowment from one of Uncertain’s leading citizens, The Down ’n Dirty Brigade will soon become a reality. Even the adults in town are excited for a safe place the kids can hang out.
Naturally, things in Uncertain don’t remain smooth and easy for long. Last fall, the parents of one of the teens were killed in a horrific car crash. It was deemed an accident but daughter Mona is convinced it was murder. She begs the girls’ help finding out what happened. Even though they’ve sworn off the ‘dangerous stuff’ and are drowning in nonprofit paperwork, they cannot say no to the distraught teen.
Meanwhile the elderly homeless man found living in the warehouse has disappeared. Joy can’t explain why, but she’s positive Charles Bennett Westlake, Esq. has the answers to what happened to Mona’s parents.
