M. L. Hamilton
As snow begins to fall in Sequoia, things have settled into a routine. Both Jaguar and Rebekah have opened their businesses, the merchants on Main Street are preparing for the Christmas sales season, and Zion has moved forward with her plans to open a second Caffeinator location. Her relationship with Tate has progressed, even if they find it difficult to get time alone, and Logan seems to be settling in.
Just when they think everything is nearly perfect, a mysterious man appears and throws everything into chaos, threatening Logan’s future and dragging Zion and Tate into a new mystery. With the stakes as high as the snow drifts, Zion must help Tate solve a murder that reminds her of the reason she came to Sequoia in the first place.

Caffe Machiatto is another great book by the delightful Hamilton. By this, book four in the series, the characters could have sunk into a set of static natures, but we see them continue to develop. The plot points set up situations that test the characters and open up interesting possibilities for their natures. For example, the introduction of Logan's father creates unique opportunities for change within Logan, Tate, Zion, and the others in Sequoia. I was very impressed by the way the plot and the characters worked together so effectively.
Kelley Hazen performs the audio edition of this book, which I enjoyed a lot. Hazen does a lot to immerse listeners in the story and connect to the situation. She makes the characters seem like real people and the plot seem true to life. Hazen's performance is one of fun and delight.
I highly enjoyed listening to Caffe Machiatto, a truly pleasurable book. I really loved the interconnected nature of the plot and character growth. This book is a real delight to listen to. I give it five stars!

M.L. Hamilton does a great job of building on the characters she has created. I’m so invested in this series... I feel like I really know the characters.
Kelley Hazen is a master narrator. She brings each of the characters to life with different voices and mannerisms. It’s always a joy to listen to her performances.

As we visit Sequoia for the fourth time, we know exactly what to expect: a fast paced plot, a murder which hits close to home for Zion and Tate, and some good twists and turns on the way to a satisfactory ending and the solution of the crime, with yet more background stories of the personal lives of most of the characters that we've got to like throughout books 1-3...:)
Ms Hamilton doesn't disappoint. Her characters live - they develop, they go through their personal ups and downs, and they learn from experience, sometimes the hard way, that life means constant change, with a lot of surprises for us on the way to the end (whatever that end may be). The murder case, as always, is engaging emotionally and makes us keep fingers crossed for Zion and Tate and their investigation. And the town of Sequoia, with its colourful citizens, becomes even closer to our hearts (I really feel like I'd like to move there:)).
Narration by Ms Hazen is great, as in all the books in the series. She keeps up the steady pace of her reading, with great voicing of individual characters and a fantastic balance between the narrative and the emotional... A job very well done:)
