A comfortable retirement isn't in the cards for Hewitt Fairfax. The restaurant he bought in upstate New York just wasn't working out. The quiet little town wasn't so quiet after all, at least not after one of his employees was murdered with Fairfax's own, personalized knife. That meant… retired detective or not… he was the prime suspect. Throw in some twists and turns, where the local police have a few mysteries in their past as well, and you have a tale that weaves its way through betrayed love, blackmail, arson, murder and — if he plays his cards right — someone to help him get through the long winter nights.
